Meet the artist

Hi, I’m Mine, pronounced “me-neh,” the person behind Mine Burgess Ceramics.

I make everything by hand in my home studio in West Palm Beach, Florida. I don’t use a pottery wheel. Each piece is built by hand, then glazed and fired.

I make quite a few different things—bowls, baking dishes, lamps, candle holders, and more. They have different purposes, but I pay attention to both the design and how each one will be used. A bowl needs to work as a bowl, just as a lamp needs to work as a light.

Some pieces are simple, and some are playful. I don’t always have the whole design worked out before I begin; sometimes it comes together as I’m making it. You’ll see that variety throughout my work, from carved lines and speckled clay to painted patterns and flower details.

Ceramics is my full-time work. This is where I spend most of my days, making the pieces you see here.
